IES Abroad Berlin Program

Founded in 1992, the IES Abroad Berlin program offers classes taught in German by German faculty, as well as access to classes at our partner university, the renowned Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, which offers excellent courses in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Participants can also take classes at other universities in Berlin, which include:

To enrich classroom learning, optional field trips are taken in connection with the IES classes to historic sites in Berlin, Dresden and/or other cities. From the IES Abroad Center in Berlin Mitte, it is a five-minute walk to Humboldt-University and Museum Island and a fifteen minute walk to the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag (German Parliament). Students enjoy full access to Humboldt University's excellent facilities, which include libraries, cafeterias, and computer and sports centers. In addition, the IES Abroad Berlin program draws upon Berlin's rich culture and tradition to connect coursework with the living history of the city.
